DUXFORD BOWLS CLUB BBQ

Friday 21st June 7pm at the pavilion

Contrary to the somewhat bleak weather outlook 10 days previous, the evening turned out to be perfect for outdoor enjoyment - sunny and warm.

Bernard Lee entertained everyone on his new guitar, and it proved a sound investment as the hits from not that long ago were given a fresh and expert airing.  A barbecue supper followed with sausages and beef-burgers, with strawberries and cream for dessert.  Thank you Sawston Co-op for providing the rolls and baps, and Gilbey Butchers in Saffron Walden supplied the meat, both of which were deemed to be exceptionally good.

Geoff Creek, Duxford Bowls Club's resident comic, did a hilarious set enjoyed by all, and Bern finished the evening with some rock 'n roll standards.

It was the perfect way of spending a mid-summer's evening and almost £400 was raised, including the raffle proceeds of £134.

Thanks to everyone involved in putting on the event, and to those who attended.

Same time next year?  Watch this space for any announcements.
